HC Deb 12 June 1973 vol 857 cc272-3W
30. Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will seek to promote concerted studies of problems of industrial safety with other member countries of the EEC.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

Yes. I suggested at the Council of Ministers meeting in Brussels on 21st May that safety, health and welfare at work was one of the subjects that should be given prominence in the Community's social policy programme and that action should be concentrated on specified problems. Where concerted studies could lead to the eventual adoption of practical measures to protect the safety and health of workpeople against major hazards, I will certainly encourage them as part of this programme.

40. Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will publish a Green Paper covering the Government proposals to implement the Robens Report in advance of producing a Bill.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

I intend to circulate consultative proposals before the end of June to CBI, TUC and other bodies with a major interest in safety and health at work.
