HL Deb 26 July 1973 vol 344 c2051WA
LORD WAKEFIELD or KENDAL

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action is being taken in the policies now being pursued to release more land for housing to ensure that appropriate provision is being made for the increasing number of people now seeking a second home to be able to use a mobile home for this purpose.

BARONESS YOUNG

Certain sites may be particularly suited to the siting of mobile homes, and advice to local authorities on the provision of land for mobile housing will be given in the proposed new planning guidelines. But where the stock of building land is restricted, authorities will need to bear in mind that development with mobile homes might well result in less intensive use of land than with permanent housing. The Government's prime concern is to ensure the adequate provision of housing for people seeking a first home.
