Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) if he will now authorise a feasibility study of the proposals produced by the Welsh Council for a major port development in South-East Wales that would be likely to attract other new port-related industries to the area;

(2) what representations he has received from the British Transport Docks Board urging the Government to sponsor made; and how these figures compare with the North and North-West Regions:

(2) how many schemes have been approved in Yorkshire and Humberside under the Industry Act; how many are under consideration; and how these figures compare with the North and North-West Regions.

The following table sets out details of applications received and offers made of regional selective assistance in Yorkshire and Humberside, Northern and North-West Regions as at 30th June 1973.

a MIDA scheme in South-East Wales; what reply he has given; and if he will make a statement;

(3) what he estimates would be the cost of the MIDA development in South-East Wales proposed by the Welsh Council.

The Welsh Council has submitted no such proposals and I have received no representations from the British Transport Decks Board.
