Mr. Denis Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will reconsider the part-time appointment of Mr. Michael Betts, an employee of GEC, as a member of the Pay Board in view of the continuing dispute within the GEC combine on the subject of progress towards equal pay; and if he will make a statement upon the principles involved where the private responsibilities of members of the Pay Board are likely to conflict with public policy.
