HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c479W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the estimated receipts to British agriculture and that of other Community countries, respectively, arising from the EEC decision notified by the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce that a production refund payment be made on maize groats manufactured by member States which are subsequently used in Denmark to make glucose by direct hydrolysis.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

I understand that only small quantities of maize groats are at present needed for the Danish process. The subsidy is paid to the manufacturer of the groats on the quantities of maize used, whether or not this is of Community origin. No direct receipts, therefore, accrue to Community growers of maize.
