§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many council house rents are due to be increased in October under the provisions of the Housing Finance Act 1971.
§ Mr. ChannonThe rents of about 2.5 million council dwellings in England and Wales are due to be increased in October 1973 under the provisions of the Housing Finance Act 1972. However, as a result of the proposed new needs allowance this increase will have no effect on about 1 million council tenants in England and Wales of whom about 400,000 will pay less rent.
