HC Deb 19 July 1973 vol 860 c175W
26. Mr. Ronald Bell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will ascertain what precautions are taken by the EEC Commission to verify that the lowest offer prices reported daily by member States for the purpose of calculating the cereals levy are accurate and based on actual contracts; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The Commission has its own sources of information which include quotations on international exchanges. An offer for grain which is not of fair average quality, or which is offered in small quantities only or which is considered to be unrepresentative, may be excluded. In cases of doubt the Commission is entitled to make further inquiries from the member State concerned.
