HC Deb 18 July 1973 vol 860 cc163-4W
Mr. Hayhoe

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what are the latest estimates of the noise levels ex- pected at take-off and landing for Concorde on entry into airline service; and how the figures compare with those for the latest versions of the VC10, Boeing 707, Boeing 747, DC8, DC 10, Trident, BAC 1–11 and Lockheed TriStar.

Mr. Onslow

Studies into Concorde's noise are continuing. The manufacturers' estimate remains that Concorde's noise levels on certification will be 114 EPNdB on take-off and 115 EPNdB on landing. These compare with existing aircraft as follows:

EPNdB
Take-off Landing
VC10 110 115
Boeing 707–320C 114 120
DC8–61 115 116
Boeing 747–200B 108 109
Trident 3B 105 110
BAC 1–11 500 99 104
Lockheed 10–11 98 103
DC 10–10 96 102
