§ Mr. RipponThe grants for which I am responsible under the Local Employment Act 1972 contribute towards the cost of providing water and sewerage services and roads for new industrial development. There are many applications for these grants, some of them raise difficult issues and each one has to be considered on its merits. The Departments concerned have been carrying out a review of the need for clearer and more uniform grant procedures. The review should be completed in the near future.
