30. Mr. Radice

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Govern- ment will now institute discussions with local authorities in the North East about the working of the housing cost yardstick system.

My Department is already in close touch with the local authority associations on this matter.

41. Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local housing authorities in England and Wales have made representations to him asking for a review of the unit cost yardstick.

Representations on this matter have come to me mainly through the local authority associations with which discussions are continuing.
