§ Mr. Gurdenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services to what extent there is an improvement in child dental health in Birmingham and other areas where fluoridation of water is in use.
§ Sir K. JosephAt present I have no information in respect of Birmingham later than that which I sent my hon. Friend in 1971. However further dental 161W examinations are being carried out and the results will be available in due course. As far as the study areas are concerned, I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Brighton, Kemptown (Mr. Bowden) on 2nd July.
In certain other areas where fluoridation has been introduced the health authorities are collecting the information necessary to assess the extent of change in dental health.
