HC Deb 02 July 1973 vol 859 cc7-8W
27. Mrs. Sally Oppenheim

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards small traders with particular reference to consumer relations and the effect on the economy.

Sir G. Howe

The Government have a special concern for smaller businesses of all kinds. We believe that they are very important indeed to the kind of free, enterprising, diverse and independent society we seek and that their continued prosperity is vital to the health of the economy. I recognise the valuable contribution made by small traders to good consumer relations.
