§ Mr. Shoreasked the Minister for the Civil Service when the £1.60 per week London allowance for industrial civil servants working within 18 miles of Charing Cross was last increased; from what figure it was increased; and what proposals he has regarding its level in 1973.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerLondon weighting for industrial civil servants was increased from £1.30 a week to £1.60 a week on 1st July 1971. I have no current proposals for increasing the rate; any increase would be subject to the second stage of counter-inflation policy.
§ Mr. Shoreasked the Minister for the Civil Service when the £175 per annum and £90 per annum London allowances for civil servants, working, respectively, within four miles and between four and 16 miles of Charing Cross were last increased; from what figures they were increased; and what proposals he has regarding their level in 1973.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerLondon allowance for non-industrial civil servants was last reviewed with effect from 1st January 1971 when the inner London rate was increased from £125 per annum to £175 per annum and the outer London 51W rate from £75 per annum to £90 per annum. A further revision was due on 1st January 1973 but, in common with other pay reviews, will be subject to the second stage of the Government's counter-inflation policy.
