Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many youths are now being employed under the Community Industry Scheme in the Mexborough district; and if he will make provision for an increase in the amount of money allocated for 1973–74 so that such schemes can be provided throughout the Yorkshire and Humberside Region.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithSixty-eight young people were employed by Community Industry in the Mexborough district at the end of January. The Government have decided to increase the grant to enable expansion to provide at least 2,000 places. New areas for expansion have not yet been decided.
