HC Deb 21 February 1973 vol 851 cc110-1W
Mr. Denzil Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) whether the EEC Commission has issued a draft regulation to replace EEC Regulation 67/67 of 22nd March 1967 which lapsed on 31st December 1972;

(2) whether, in view of the fact that EEC Regulation 67/67 of 22nd March 1967 lapsed on 31st December 1972, it is the practice of his Department to advise United Kingdom companies to notify the Commission of all exclusive dealing agreements which might contravene Article 85(1) of the Treaty of Rome.

Sir G. Howe

The Commission has issued Regulation 2591 of 1972, which extends the block exemption under Regulation 67 of 1967 until 31st Decem- ber 1982. There is therefore no need for British companies to notify to the Commission exclusive dealing agreements in the categories exempted. Companies which seek advice from my Department are so informed.
