§ Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will undertake a survey of land owned by British Railways in large conurbations with a view to improving the distribution of housing and amenity within them through the use of such land.
§ Mr. PeytonBritish Rail has recently carried out a special survey in London in association with my Department and local authorities. This identified 160 acres of surplus land with potential for housing. It is also in close touch with other local authorities. I doubt therefore the need to initiate any further special exercise at this stage.
