§ Sir D. Rentonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will amend the Road Vehicles Lighting (Standing Vehicles) (Exemption) (General) (No. 2) Order in a way which will restore the power formerly given to chief officers of police on application by a local authority to give written consent for motor vehicles to stand without lights during the hours of darkness on designated street parking places.
§ Mr. PeytonNo. The regulations introduced last April are designed to make the lighting of parked vehicles subject to simple universal rules. I do intend, however, to review the operation of the rules in the near future.
