asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many people were killed on the Ml during 1972; and how many were seriously injured.

Mr. Peyton

In the first 10 months of 1972, 69 people were killed and 351 seriously injured. The figures for November and December are not yet available.

Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the fatality and seriously injured rate for the M1 in 1972, and state how this compares with available statistics for rural A roads.
