Mr. John Mendelsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if 238W he will investigate the extent to which the smaller manufacturing companies are being forced to pay high prices and have their supplies restricted by the actions of speculators on the London Metal Exchange; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantNo, Sir. The present high prices on the London Metal Exchange affect large as well as small firms. If the hon. Member has evidence that speculators are restricting supplies to small firms I shall be glad to have it.
