HC Deb 03 December 1973 vol 865 cc257-8W
Mr. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the need to conserve fuel supplies, if he will end the supply of aviation fuel for training flights from Newcastle Airport.

Mr. Onslow

No. The airline concerned has a statutory duty to carry out crew competency checks in the interest of air safety. Its operations as a whole are subject to the restrictions on the supply of fuel announced on 19th November.

Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is aware that executive jet flights with limited passenger numbers are being operated internally and abroad with a disproportionate use of fuel ; and if he will cause the fuel supply position for these purposes to be reviewed.

Mr. Onslow

Executive jet flights are subject to the restrictions in fuel supply announced on 19th November. I am now reviewing with the industry the question of priorities within the overall allocation.
