HC Deb 19 April 1973 vol 855 cc184-5W
Dr. Stuttaford

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cardiac ambulance units now operate in England and Wales.

Sir K. Joseph

The provision of ambulance services is the statutory responsibility of local health authorities in England and Wales and information about the total number of cardiac ambulances now operating is not available centrally.

Dr. Stuttaford

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the percentage death rate, with death occurring in the first three weeks, for patients admitted to an acute coronary care unit where a cardiac ambulance service exists compared with the percentage death rate when no such service is in operation.

Sir K. Joseph

Statistics about deaths occurring during the first three weeks after admission to acute coronary care units are not available centrally.
