Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many occupational training centres are available in Nottinghamshire for the mentally handicapped; and what plans he has to provide more centres.

Apart from occupational places in hospitals for in-patients, there are presently four adult training centres providing a total of 540 places. Two of the centres will be replaced by new larger centres now under construction bringing the total of places to 675.

In the next three years the local authorities plan to build two further centres providing 150 places each.
