HC Deb 09 April 1973 vol 854 cc221-2W
Mr. Crouch

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take to stop the damage being caused to property in Whitstable and other parts of North-East Kent as a result of the detonation of shells in the course of clearance operations at Maplin Sands.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

There is no evidence that damage is being caused to property anywhere by explosions on the Maplin Sands, and I shall be grateful if my hon. Friend will let me have any information that leads him to suppose any differently. Explosions due to the clearance activities have been no different from those occurring during the normal Ministry of Defence range activities.
