HC Deb 09 April 1973 vol 854 c224W
Mr. Oakes

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many and which airports in England and Wales have at present proposals before him to extend runways or increase facilities.

Mr. Graham Page

Proposals are at present before us in respect of:

  1. (i) the construction of an airport and ancillary buildings at Winstone Beacon, Saltash, Cornwall;
  2. (ii) the widening of taxiways and turning circles and temporary enlargement of the passenger terminal at Luton Airport.

In addition there are a number of proposals of a minor nature at small airfields used for general aviation purposes.

I understand from my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales that there are no proposals before him at the present time.
