§ 49. Mr. Worsleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with the arrangements by which payment of rent by families in need of social help can be made directly, either by attachment of earnings or by the Supplementary Benefits Commission.
§ Mr. DeanSo far as I am aware, the respective arrangements are satisfactory. The attachment procedure, which is not primarily my Department's concern, was introduced in August 1971 and there is little information about its practical operation so far. If my hon. Friend is concerned about a particular case where either arrangement appears not to be working satisfactorily, I shall be glad to consider it.
