HC Deb 02 April 1973 vol 854 cc9-10W
Mr. Michael Cocks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the date when he received the Ashton Vale Flood Alleviation Scheme, Colliters Brook for review; and when he expects to be able to give it approval, bearing in mind the disquiet among local residents at any further delay.

Mrs. Fenner

I have been asked to reply.

The proposals were submitted by the Bristol Avon River Authority for grant-aid on 18th April 1972. Most of the time since then has been taken up in obtaining essential additional technical and economic information. Our assessment of this is nearly complete but we still need clarification of one or two outstanding points.

Mr. Michael Cocks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what inquiries have been made by his Department into the difficulties in the design stage of the Ashton Vale Flood Alleviation Scheme, Colliters Brook, which were not anticipated last year.

Mrs. Fenner

I have been asked to reply.

This is a complicated scheme but I am not aware of any difficulties in the design stage which have arisen this year.
