HC Deb 26 October 1972 vol 843 c386W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the wearing of para-military uniforms in Northern Ireland; and how many successful prosecutions against the wearing of the same have taken place in the past six months.

Mr. Whitelaw

The policy of the civil authorities in this respect depends on the activities at the time of those wearing such uniforms. Prosecutions are a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General, but I understand that none has been brought successfully during the past six months.
