HC Deb 26 October 1972 vol 843 c359W
Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Minister of State for Defence to what extent safety-system engineering is incorporated in the operational function of the Royal Air Force's Directorate of Flight Safety; and if he will make a statement on the procedure for ensuring that the Directorate's advice on safety-system engineering is acted on.

Lord Lambton

This is a technique which has been specially developed for the United States aerospace programme. It is currently under study to determine its suitability in relation to the needs of the Royal Air Force. The advice of the Director of Flight Safety (Royal Air Force) is taken fully into account in determining the design and method of operating Royal Air Force aircraft.
