HC Deb 26 October 1972 vol 843 cc400-1W
Mr. Robert Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the fact that the Greater London Development Inquiry will render obsolete further inquiries into the principle of urban motorways, whether, in the interests of consistency and economy, he will limit further inquiries concerning motorways to the merits of particular routes.

Mr. Peyton

The Inquiry into the Greater London Development Plan is concerned with specific road proposals for London, and only indirectly with the general principle of urban motorways. Procedures for planning roads in urban areas are being reviewed in the light of the recent report of the Urban Motorways Committee.
