asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the number of days lost due to official strikes, sickness and injury, respectively.

Following is the information for the most recent period for which figures are available for all the items:

Days of certified incapacity* Year ended 6th June, 1971† (Great Britain)
Sickness 314 million
Industrial injury (industrial accidents and prescribed industrial diseases) 20 million
Working days lost in all stoppages in progress known to be official Year ended 31st May, 1971 (United Kingdom)
Stoppages of work due to industrial disputes 8.8 million
* For national insurance purposes on the basis of six working days in a week. Days of incapacity following termination of injury benefit are included under sickness.
