HC Deb 18 October 1972 vol 843 cc80-1W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of employment likely to occur in development areas as a result of the £20 million Exchequer contribution towards the cost of 85 new trains for the Piccadilly Underground line, the £2.3 million Exchequer contribution towards the cost of research into the comfort of the London Underground system, and the £110 million Exchequer contribution to London Transport improvement schemes since summer 1971.

Mr. Peter Walker

Details are not readily available, but I expect that most of the development areas will benefit from employment resulting from these investments.
