Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what agreement was reached at the European Economic Community summit conference held in Paris on 19th–20th October, 1972, as to whether the proposed regional development fund should operate on the scale of tens or hundreds of millions of pounds per annum.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how soon he expects to be able to state whether the whole of Wales or parts thereof are to be regarded as a peripheral area for purposes of regional development policy in the Common Market.

Mr. Chataway

Under Article 154 of the Treaty of Accession this issue is to be settled by 1st July, 1973.
