HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 cc371-2W
46. Mr. Ian Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many day centres have been provided for child- ren with truancy and similar problems; how many are planned; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Monro

Pupils with behavioural problems are usually treated by the child guidance service. There are 101 child guidance clinics in Scotland and more are planned. There are four day schools for maladjusted pupils who require separate schooling and four more are planned. While these additional facilities are certainly needed, in my view most of the problems are best tackled in the ordinary schools with the help of specialist staff.
