HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c387W
Mr. Marks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment from which local authorities in the North-West Region he has received estimates of average rents of council houses under the Housing Finance Bill; and if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of these estimates, together with existing average rents.

Mr. Eyre

The only estimate received so far was from Rochdale CBC. The average rent in Rochdale on 1st April, 1971, was £2 .30 and the council increased rents by 50p on 1st April, 1972. The council estimated that a further increase of 50p would probably bring average existing rents near or above the average fair rent estimated by the council's officers.
