HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c407W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the attitude of the Civil Service Commissioners towards applicants for employment in the Northern Ireland Civil Service who have previously sworn an oath of allegiance while employed in the civil service of a foreign country.

Mr. Channon

The Civil Service Commission would not necessarily know whether an applicant for employment in the Civil Service of Northern Ireland had sworn an oath of allegiance in a foreign country. The commission's responsibility is to ensure that a candidate for appointment is eligible under its general regulations, which cover matters of nationality and residence.
