§ 83. Mr. Ronald King Murrayasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made by the Working Party of the Scottish Law Commission which is examining the possibility of introducing legislation to amend the provisions of Sections 26 and 27 of the Debtors (Scotland) Act 1838, so as to encourage the sale of a debtor's furniture and belongings at better prices than those obtained under the present procedure, and to moderate the hardship caused to debtors and their families by warrant sales.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe Scottish Law Commission's Working Party, to which the hon. and learned Member refers, is considering the whole field of the law of diligence, of which warrant sale procedure is only one aspect, albeit an important one. This is a large and a complex subject, and it is still too early to say when the Commission's report may be expected.
