HC Deb 09 May 1972 vol 836 cc344-5W
Mr. Iremonger

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what advice he has received from the Chief Valuer of the Greater London Council as to the membership of his committee to inquire into local authority valuation practices; and why he consulted, in this connection, the head of the department which was the subject of comment by the Lords Justices in the case of Young versus the Greater London Council, upon which matter the committee will be required to make a judgment.

Mr. Graham Page

Normal consultations on the constitution of the committee were held with the associations of local authorities and the GLC in which the Chief Valuer represented the council. No advice on the membership of the committee has been sought or received by the Secretary of State from the Chief Valuer of the Greater London Council. Three members of the committee have been appointed by the associations and the GLC acting jointly.
