asked the Secretary of State for Employment what effect he anticipates the Government's fair rents legislation will have on the level of wage demands.

While wage demands take account of changes in the cost of living, rents are only one aspect of the movement in prices which in recent months, following the Government and CBI initiatives, have been rising at much lower rates than last year so providing a basis for more moderate wage claims.
