asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of unemployed, by sex, in the Easing-ton constituency at the latest available date; and how these numbers compare with the national average, on a percentage basis.

At 10th April, in the area covered by the Peterlee and Wingate employment exchanges, 1,987 males and 258 females were registered as unemployed and the percentage rates of unemployment were 10.9 for males and 3.3 for females. The rates of unemployment for Great Britain were 5.7 per cent. for males and 1.8 per cent. for females.
