HC Deb 09 May 1972 vol 836 cc311-2W
70. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what administrative arrangements will be made by his Department with local authorities and other housing agencies to assist in the working of the Housing Finance Bills

Sir K. Joseph

My local offices will provide such information as the authorities need to see that tenants receiving supplementary benefit get the rent rebate or allowance to which they are entitled, without having to claim it. It will not be possible to reassess all cases on a common date and authorities will be asked to stagger the award of rebates so as to coincide with renewals of awards of supplementary benefit. This will also spread the load of work for housing authorities without affecting the total relief available to any tenant.
