§ 69. Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make it a condition of his appointment to the Committee on Safety of Drugs/Medicines that the appointees accept the same rules as that which applies to civil servants on the acceptance of remunerated posts with drug companies after their term of office.
§ Sir K. JosephNo. Members of the Committee on Safety of Medicines are subject to Section 118 of the Medicines Act, 1968, which makes it an offence for any person to disclose to any other person any information furnished to him in pursuance of the Act unless the disclosure was made in the performance of his duty. The obligation continues after membership of the committee has ceased. The committee superseded the Committee on Safety of Drugs in September, 1971; membership was identical at that date.
