§ 36. Mr. Buchananasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will state the number of legal abortions carried out during the last 12 months for which figures are available and also the number of live births during the same period.
§ Sir K. JosephThe provisional number of legal abortions performed in Great Britain in 1971 was 137,463. Live births in the same period provisionally numbered 869,708.
