§ The Prime MinisterOne Cabinet Minister—the Secretary of State for Wales—has a civil servant below the rank of Permanent Secretary as the permanent head of his Department. The Welsh Office is directly responsible for Vote expenditure totalling an estimated £177 million in 1972–73.
