Following the recent visit to the Malagasy Republic by a representative of the Commonwealth Development Corporation, what development schemes have been submitted to them for the promotion of economic projects showing good prospects of commercial viability in that country and for which of these, and when, will approval be sought from the Malagasy Government.
§ THE MARQUESS OF LOTHIANMy right honourable friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary has not so far been asked by the Commonwealth Development Corporation to give his approval for C.D.C. operations in the Malagasy Republic. I understand, however, that the Corporation is at present studying the feasibility of operating there.
