asked the Minister of State for Defence what number of military personnel have been killed or injured in the course of duty in Northern Ireland, in the period since the imposition of direct rule, compared with the equivalent period immediately before it.

The Army has suffered the following casualties as a result of terrorist and other hostile actions in Northern Ireland:
