§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT either a detailed list or a summary of the classification and grades of the 262 service officers and 122 civilian staff who will, under the Boyle proposals, receive an 18 per cent. increase in their salaries; what their present salaries are and what they will be on implementation of the Boyle Report; what are the present annual salaries of these 384 employees and what it will be on completion of the Boyle proposals.
§ Lord BalnielThere is one five-star Service officer who will have his salary increased from £13,998 to £15,750; 22 four-star officers who will have their salaries increased from £12,501 to£14,250; 43 three-star officers who will have their salaries increased from £9,253 to £10,750; 174 two-star officers who will have their salaries increased from £7,245 to £8,750; and 22 officers on intermediate salary rates which will be increased by comparable amounts. There are three civilian staff at Permanent Secretary level who will have their salaries increased from £14,000 to £15,750; one Second Permanent Secretary who will have his salary increased from £13,000 to £14,750; 14 at Deputy Secretary level who will have their salaries increased from £9,000 to £10,500 and 80 at Under-Secretary level who will have their salaries increased from £6,750 to £8,250. In addition, there are 24 staff on intermediate salary rates which will be increased by comparable amounts.
Mr. Arthur Lewis asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will now take whatever action may be necessary to ensure an increase in the wages and salaries of all staff and employees coming 198W within his ministerial control, retrospective to 1st January, 1972.
