HC Deb 04 July 1972 vol 840 cc109-10W
Q21. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will seek to arrange to meet the Trades Union Congress to discuss the Boyle Committee's Report on the 18 per cent. increases in the salaries of the higher paid State servants and the Government's decision to implement this report.

The Prime Minister

No. The arrangements for dealing with these salaries were announced in the House by my right hon. Friend the then Secretary of State for Employment on 2nd November, 1970, and I have acted in accordance with these arrangements.—[Vol. 805, c. 668.]

Q29. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will expedite the publication of future reports from the Boyle Committee.

The Prime Minister

I will continue to deal with these reports in the light of all relevant considerations.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will give details of the present salaries of the two members of his staff who will have their salaries increased by 18 per cent. retrospectively to January last, on implementation of the Boyle Report; and what their salaries will be on implementation of this Report.

The Prime Minister

I would refer the hon. Member to my answer to him of 27th June. Both of those concerned are at Under-Secretary level. The Top Salaries Review Body has recommended that the salary rate for Under-Secretaries should be increased from £6,750 to £8,250.—[Vol. 839, c.318.]
