HC Deb 04 July 1972 vol 840 c113W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans are in hand for an extension of nursery education for the three- to five-year-olds in the city of Carlisle; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. van Straubenzee

In January the provision of 40 places in nursery classes at two primary schools in Carlisle was approved under the urban programme. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department will be ready to consider any proposals for additional nursery provision in the city which may be put forward by the local authority in response to Urban Programme Circular No. 7 issued on 10th May.
