§ Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received asking for the reinstatement of the mobile mass radiography service to its former levels throughout the country; and what replies he has sent.
§ Mr. AlisonMy Department has received many letters asking for the service to be continued. These have been 259W carefully considered but they do not cause me to alter the guidance issued to hospital authorities for the run-down of this service. In my replies I have explained that general population surveys now reveal relatively few cases of active tuberculosis for the number of persons examined, but that mobile X-ray units will continue to be used for surveys of population groups at special risk; and in some areas to meet the needs of general practitioners.
