§ Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he has taken to bring about an international commodity agreement for cocoa; and what progress has been made.
§ Mr. PriorI have been asked to reply. Her Majesty's Government fully support proposals for an effective and equitable International Cocoa Agreement and have been working to this end at recent preparatory consultations between major producing and consuming countries. There are still differences of view among these countries on some important issues but a United Nations Cocoa Conference to negotiate an agreement has now been convened for 6th March.
